There is also the assumption alluded to in some comments that an UHP summer tyre will brake better than tyres like the Continental summer tyre in the test, but that is not always necessarily so. There are tests out there where wet braking distances of UHP tyres are greater, and less G-force than ordinary performance tyres in the wet. So we get back to statistics vs. statistics.
All tyres have compromises, as do wheel sizes, so there is not one tyre that does it all. We need to set the priorities of what we need from a tyre and pick the tyre that best suits that need. Remembering we also need to adjust our driving to work with a tyre, the conditions and the established compromises. HighlandPete |
