USB function

Hi all

I'm a new member on here and this is my first post. There's a good reason for that, I'm picking up my E92 335i hopefully in the next few days! I can't wait!

Just a quick, probably stupid, question and I apologise if this has already been answered somewhere on the forum. But, can anyone advise what the function of the USB port in the arm-rest is for?

I'm assuming it accepts a standard USB mass storage device, but can it be used for anything else? Ipod?

Thanks in advance, and hopefully I can start giving back to this forum as I learn about the car

Ah excellent! And does the iDrive let you browse artists, albums and all that jazz? That would be excellent!

Thanks for your help.

yep
but if you put a flash drive that has thousands of songs
it taks a while for the car to read through them

No, regardless of whether you have iDrive or not.

The phone end of this cable (the one on the right) only fits iPhone. There are no Android devices that use this connector, AFAIK.

I would imagine that you could connect an Android phone via your normal USB cable, then when the phone prompts you just select 'Mass Storage'

I've ordered a Y cable like above for my Ipod, thanks guys.
