N54 Intake valve cleaning service
With all the talk about cleaning the intake valves on the N54 I wonder if any local (SoCal) vendors or indy service shops will step up and offer this service. I asked about getting it done at Crevier BMW and the SA looked at me like I had two heads. I think someone could make a lot of money by offering the service.

Had it done at my dealership and it was a small fortune(maunal decarb of valves and ports). It didnt fix the problem that it was recommended for but it made a lot of difference in how the car drives. Not sure if I would do it agiain, probably but would shop around or a better price.

I have the perfect shop for the OP and anyone else in Orange County: Coast Motor Werk in Irvine. Next to the Burger King on Main St and Veneto (near Main & Harvard). Their phone # is 949-474-4555 and ask for Brad. Super nice guy who saved me $1800 when my stock '07 e90 335i wouldn't pass smog and Crevier tried to rip me off.
They specialize in BMW's and Mini's only, and seem very honest. They also have a location in Huntington Beach. |

Possible, but have you seen how thick that carbon build up can get? My engine definitely ran smoother after cleaning.

I do, but I'm up in Portland. I know a guy who was the service manager for a John Deere dealership in Woodburn who's a real gear head that would do the job or know someone who can do it. I've known him for about 12 years, he lives in the Salem area. If you're interested PM me and I can give him a call and see what he's up to. His son is also a master machanic and a total gear head so between the two of them they have a few wrenches sitting around. I'm sure for about half of what a dealer would charge they would be willing to do the job and do a better job than the dealership would do. They'll even let you buy the beer.
