The trim that surrounds the compartment in my car is looking pretty rough these days - does anyone have a spare that they don't need anymore that they are willing to sell? My interior is black...

I was looking for the same thing. no luck and $160-170 seemed high to me. so, i took it off, sanded it down and put about 5-6 coats of flat black krylon on it. it looks fantastic. be patient and sand very lightly between coats with ultra fine sandpaper. I tried plastic dip but that is too fragile, it kept peeling. worth a try.

contact VS Motorsports, they are stripping there e92 m3 to build into a race car, they might have some parts they want to part with

Thanks for the tip. The price seemed a little bit ridiculous to be too, seeing that it's only the surrounding trim that's worn. What grit of sandpaper did you use? I'm afraid of ruining the piece, so I don't want to use anything too abrasive. Thanks!

In that case
How about wrapping it with matt black?
If it looks bad, you can peal the wrap and you're back to where you are
Or I'm pretty sure If the wrap is tight, and the edges are glued down from underneath
You could spray the wrap
So it's reversible

the wrap is actually a better idea. mine was peeling and scratched pretty bad and it showed through the wrap so one thing led to another and I started sanding. first w medium grit, then to fine, ultra fine. i used up to 1500 grit between paint coats. but if you have some good black wrap that would be much easier than painting..
