You know when the side lights and tail lights come on when you unlock the car? Does this only happen on certain conditions, eg when the auto lights would put the lights on anyway?

Reason I ask is that when I parked, the sidelights came on when I unlocked. Half an hour later, I went to get something out the car but neighbours security light is on and the sidelights remained off, only interior and door handle lights came on.

Ideas?
