help me decifer suspension meanings

hi guys i just wanted to get some good explanations on various words used when talking about coilovers/springs/shocks.

i wanted to know what damping adjustable and rebound adjustable mean? i am currently in a crisis trying to find out what coilovers i should get i am undecided between bilstein, kw, or jic . i have done alot of research but still cant come to a decision,

my main priorities are to go LOW and to have COMFORTABLE ride, not a track ride wich every bump seems like the car got crashed.

any help???

also if there is any shops or guys that might be able to help in south fla

When you go over a bump, the shock compresses, and when you go over a dip the shock extends.

Bump or compression adjustable means you can adjust the resistance the shock gives to compression.

Rebound adjustable means you can adjust the resistance the shock gives to extension -- "rebound stroke".

In lay mans terms....

Low damper = soft ride.
High damper = stiff ride.

Low rebound = less bounce.
High rebound = more bounce.

I think I got that right.

If your main priorities are to lower your car and maintain a good ride, just get a set of coils with height adjust-ability. You really only need the rebound and damper adjustments for the track. Or if you like riding on a pillow or basically on a concrete slab. But if you run coils at thier absolute min and max settings, they will wear out super fast.

that makes sense, that just made me understand a lot more. now can someone tell me if the kw v2s are height adjustable would that mean i would have to disassemble the coilovers and such to adjust or what process would that take... also which would give the most comfortable ride out of all coilovers/ springs??

thanks for the help everyone

No to adjust height you use the included spanner wrenches to adjust the nuts and raise/lower the car. I pretty sure that's how all coilovers work.

Not sure about comfort. You'll have to wait for someone else to chime in.

I also want to mention in addition to my previous post that changing the damper and rebound affect each other. I think the closer they are together, the stiffer the ride.
