Samsung 3D TV and Blu-Ray

I just bought a 59" 3d TV from Samsung the other day (PN59D550C1) and now need to upgrade my current blu-ray player to a 3D one. My question is, do brands have to match? I haven't found a Samsung 3d Blu-Ray player with excellent reviews, rarely over 4/5 stars. I know my glasses for the TV must be from Samsung, but as for the player itself? Any insight or recommendations would be great. I am coming from a full Panasonic setup.

My Sony PS3 runs 3D movies and games fine on my Samsung 46" 3D HDTV. I don't think brands have to match.

And congrats on the new tv!

Thanks! Not much variety over here in Germany for American system TVs, but I am very happy so far! Night and day from my old TV (a 50" Panasonic Plasma purchased in 2007). I too have a PS3 but have not used it because I am in Kosovo at the moment along with the PS3. My old blu-ray worked fine to play movies, but hadn't tried 3D... still need the glasses and some movies...

^ Do you feel as if there is any quality loss between using a PS3 and having a 3D Blu-ray player? I understand that do the same thing, but do you feel it is as crisp as it is supposed to be? If so, I may just hold off on buying one for the meantime as long as it plays 3D movies with no problem.

Blu-rays look incredible running at 1080p on my tv from my PS3. Even in 3D everything looks great. My Samsung is an LED though, Im not too familiar with plasma tv's like yours.

Awesome everyone, thanks for the help. Sounds like I will hold off on a player for now and just try out the PS3 when I get home. Looking forward to it!

Yeah just hold out. I honestly am getting so tired of Blu Ray. Awaiting the next HD DVDs to come out in the next 12-24 months. Also OLED TV's are coming.

I have had Blu Ray movies and HD DVDs for almost 6 years (July 2006). Its time to move on to the next which is VR/3D OLED.
