Bye Bye Muffler?
I was thinking of cutting the muffler all together and welding on quad tips to the pipes that are gonna go in the muffler's place. Thoughts on this? And does anyone know a good quality muffler shop in So Cal that would be able to do a really clean job at it? Thanks!
Very old pic btw. The car does look different now and I'll post recent pictures up later |

Might as well point a gun point blank at your ear and pull the trigger...
Will you be okay with the drone? |

I won't know until I try it. It's pretty easy to undo the modification though so its worth a shot. If I dont like it I'll probably just end up buying a new exhaust anyway.

DO IT!!!!
I got mine done at King muffler in Socal on hazeltine and vanowen!!! It took me a month to get used to the drone, but once you get used to it, it's not as bad. I paid $150 for the quads and the installation, but I got my diffuser cut at a bodyshop. Here are some pics of how mine turned out.

For me it wasn't the drone but rather the rattles that made me put in some Remus mufflers. At first there's no rattles but after few months the car's interior pieces can't stand the vibration coming into the cabin and start to rattle like crazy
And no, it's not the rattle that everyone gets with any aftermarket exhaust (usually just rear center console and maybe front center armrest), it's EVERYTHING. |

Honestly, you have a 50 or 60 thousand dollar car and you are worried about spending another grand on an appropriate high performance cat back system? Do it right, else the BMW crowd will start getting a reputation like the rice burner Hondas that makes lots of noise and don't go anywhere fast. You also have to take into consideration that Very smart engineers design these engines to have a certain amount of back pressure in order for the car to run properly. When you take a muffler system completely out of the equation, a great deal of the time, you are actually hindering the performance of the car, not enhancing it. Do you want SHOW or GO? That is the question... The new BMW electric supercar (see new mission impossible movie) will be almost silent and smoke most cars off the road.
