Non-Run Flats: How to prepare for flat tire scenario?
For those with non run flats, what do you recommend purchasing in the event you get a flat tire - especially now that winter is here?
(Don't want to haul a spare tire in the trunk) I searched the forums and found a few options...but would like feedback from folks around this area. Criteria for me is: simple, fast and hassle free; and anything that doesn't take up valuable trunk space.

I do a couple of things... I have the Conti Comfort Kit, AAA, and BMW Roadside Assistance. I know some also carry the spare tire kit sold by Tischer.

Why is everyone so worried when help is a phone call away? Especially if it is wet, cold, and all of the above? LOL

It looks like you have your options well laid out. I use the spare tire kit.

I had a flat happen to me 70 miles from my house, I was running run flats so I went the back roads and ended up burning up almost the whole tire, by that time it was 11p.m and I didn't know anyone with a spare tire that was sober. So I had to get a tow truck to tow me the last 45 miles cost me $200, much rather have had a spare. So now when I get my non run flats, spare, jack, wrench, slime, air pump, so I'm ready for all scenarios.

If you get a tire inflation kit, you can just get a flat tire kit from amazon for $20 bucks. That's what i do -- as i travel from MD-NY at least once a month.
I carry a full spare, however, i rarely use it. If i get a flat, i pull over, take the wheel off... get a bottle of water to check for leaks, and plug the tire myself. I've done this at least a couple times this year, and it's always held up on long commutes. |
