I havent gotten an oil change yet, but i want to buy royal purple for my 335. I used it on my previous car and it was awesome, anyone out there using it?

I've been told that you Royal Purple is good for track cars and not daily drivers. The oil contains a lot of charcoal which gunks up your motor and is intended to be changed after every track day. My buddy uses it in his 69 Charger. I am not 100% certain but i trust my buddy considering he has a 700hp charger and knows his car shit.

Use Royal Purple for trans and diff, I change my oil too often to use in my motor. RS200 is good, so is Lubromoly.

Honestly, there are many threads about it. RP is not a BMW a LL-01 approved oil, but people have been fine using it. I would change it around 5-7.5 K miles if you do plan on using it. Here is RP Rep responding to a forum member's question about RP and our engines.

If you want the best fluids for performance and protection, Royal Purple oils are a great choice. RP SAE 5W-30 (part #01530, quart bottle) would be an excellent oil for the engine in your 325i. When you are ready to switch the transmission fluid and differential oil, let us know.


WOW, I highlighted what I thought was relevant.

2)While they do help ensure quality oils, these OEM oil licenses also generate revenue for the OEM. That's the point, we want to ensure oil quality! Also, what is wrong with making revenue? Is Royal Purple a non-profit organization?!

3)And different viscosities may not even be eligible for certain licenses or specs. No kidding, royal purple might fall into that category.

What I get from Royal purple is that they don't want to be tested and to just trust them. I am glad I did this, I am staying away from that oil.

I did a conversion from motor oil to royal purple. Car idles smoother and see a fuel economy.

I just the Tranny, replaced the transmission fluid with the atf version! Wow, car shifts very smooth! you can hardly feel it shifting. transmission runs cooler too.

Then did the coolant additive after the water pump was changed.

I was proved how good royal purple is excellent for my 96 325 with 70000 miles

was worth the money!

Once you go purple , you'll never go back. Your bimmer will love it. However, it is kind of expensive compared to other oils.

I plan now to buy a quarter every month and store it for oil. Makes it easy at the end. I am not made of money, but certainly my car will last longer.
