JB4 Questions
Hello,
I am currently running Dinan S2 + JB+. I took my car in to get my fuel pump replaced, and they also implement a recall where they reflashed my ECU, which deleted the Dinan. I have been thinking about going to JB4 anyways, and if I am going to, this is the time to do it. The Dinan S2 software tune in my opinion drives incredibly like stock, though power does vary a bit from pull-to-pull..but most likely from timing control, and crappy CA 91 octane =/ My question is before I switch, I want to get people's opinion on the feel of the car.... 1) How is the feel of the JB4 tune? Is its drivebility normal when not boosting? 2) Is the power when boosting controllable? feel's natural and runs smoothly? jerking? abrupt power changes? 3) Install seems pretty easy...how fast is it to take it off and on? How fast is it to set up the water/meth injection with it? Just in case I need to take it in... I was going to get the JB4 + Water/Meth.... 4) Any advice & suggestions? Thank you, -Peter |

It's very smooth, I had giac before I switched to the jb4 and im happy with it. You'll love the added power! The tq feels like it comes on stronger than my giac tune did( which I like). The jb4 has a trail period, if you buy it and don't like it, just return it and get ur money back.

I barely hear about it anymore..not sure if this is b/c it is been around for a while, and that there are newer tunes around like Cobb, new procede, etc.
Those I dont know anyhting about. Too bad Dinan S2 has no Meth control They never will as that is too agressive for Dinan...it would also cost like $938439585985 for the setup if they did add it LOL. |

This forum has lot of Cobb users, cobbs new agg. Maps are interesting. Cobb has seemed to influence some new maps from other tuners. After Cobb came out with the new maps, the new procede maps are now more aggressive and I heard there will be new aggressive jb4 maps coming too. There is a thread floating around with a jb4 vs Cobb aggressive comparison, do a search. It seems Cobb still has some issues though that need to be ironed out. If I were you I would research a lot of comparisons, look on different forums for reviews, etc.

Quick breakdown
Jb4 -modified boost controller with added fuel.Cool functions.Okay for the money. Proceed-controls *better then the jb4.Great when using for meth Cool fuctions too, but not a fan of the cruise control switching.Great support.Mini haltech box. Cobb-flashes the whole ecu and control ways piggys can't like vonos etc etc..Safer afr's and has the best support around.Downsides, no meth or race map yet be will be out very soon>smoothest tune for the n54.Makes the most power on pump gas out of the 3 . My car is probably closer in weight to a 135i, but with JB4/Meth/DCI as my only engine mods, I was trapping close to 124 mph the other day. No Other Engine Mods..Stock Exhaust and 91 octane too. With the UR Dps installed the yesterday, I trapped over 125mph on the Vbox. The JB4 feels very responsive, and edgy...I love it. As far as timing control, I won't begin to tell you how much I have gone way beyond recommended parameters. Even on nitrous I use no CPS control. The factory DME is pretty good at responding to knock events. Car has hundreds of 1/4 mile runs, and is running stronger than ever.

There are quite a few people who are running the JB4 on top of the Dinan flashing as well. Often customers get Dinan before they know about other options and then later wind up wanting more power. Check out BMS' forum and you can probably touch base with some of those guys if you plan to put the Dinan mapping back on and want to use the JB4 on top of it.
Other than that can't go wrong with the JB4. Good features, good price, good reliability record, good support, and of course lots of power. Mike |

Yo dude... I had the Dinan s2
Ended up getting the Cobb... The plug and play is worth it, IMHO. Waaaaaay less of a hassle than jb4. Sure the performance with the juice box is there.... But- literally popping Open the plastic to the port beneath the trunk release and popping in the cobb... Not worrying about physically uninstalling before checkups, etc was worth it for me. Very amazing tune. Makes Dinan feel like a civic. |
