Best All-Season Tires for the Price
Hey everyone. I just recently bought a set of matte black VMR V710 wheels to run as my winter setup, size 18x8.5 +35 and 18x9.5 +22 M3 fitment in the rear. They arrive on Thursday.
I'm seeing what all-season tires are available in my area at a relatively good price in 225/40-18 and 255/35-18. Anyone have any experience with these tires? Kumho Ecsta ASX Pirelli P Zero Nero A/S Continental ExtremeContact DWS Yokohama Advan S.4 Right now I'm leaning towards the Continental or the Pirelli. I'm not too fond of the harsh ride of Kumho, but those are by far the cheapest. I already saw a comparison video of these tires on tirerack.com, but that video still doesn't clarify it for me. The Continental tires rate the best in the snow and ice, but I'd like to know your thoughts. |

If snow traction is the primary concern, than the DWS is your tire. If not, the Pirelli Nero A/S would be my pick among those.

Thanks! I'm gonna try to find some DWS locally. Read on the forums that they're backordered like everywhere. Might have to go with the Pirelli if I can't find the DWS, but Pirelli seems like a decent option for snow. Luckily we don't have too much snow and ice here, but it's enough to need some good traction.

Just got 4 DWS mounted and roadforce balanced on Saturday. It is night and day with OEM runflats. Very very smooth and quiet. I personally don't see a huge difference in the sidewalls that alot of people complain about. They feel great. Have yet to try them in snow or rain.

Seems like the consensus is DWS! Good to know. It says on Discount Tire that they have them available on Special Order, so hopefully they'll be able to get some in.

Trevor, I could have told you that! Continental DWSs are the most popular all-seasons we sell haha. I'd highly recommend them though.

I ended up purchasing the Pirelli P Zero Nero A/S today. Installing Friday. The DWS were on national backorder everywhere I went, as were the Yokohama. I didn't want to wait for these tires to become available. All I want for Christmas are my wheels installed, my wheels installed, my wheels installed. |

I went for the more expensive Michelin Sport A/S Plus, as others have said they look bad-ass, but they do come with a higher price tag. If you use the price-match exercise you can get them for $162/tire after a $70 rebate from Michelin. My Discount Tire declined to match the 10% off on account of the rebate, allegedly they match "total cost after all applicable discounts". As best as I can tell TireBuyer does not participate in the $70 rebate, but you may wish to give it a shot if you buy from them, as there is nothing to loose. |

Wheels installed... and for reference...
2006 E90 18x9.5 +22 rear 255 tires No fender roll NO RUBBING DURING NORMAL DRIVING!! I did rub once on an incline that had a significant dip right before the incline, but that's to be expected. Normal, everyday driving (even with passengers) is great, zero rubbing. |
