but when he locks out higher in the radio spectrum he is able to get the locking feature to work.

I suspect that Escort was is unable to find a filter that would reliably work and fit inside the cramped space?

I have not been able to get it to lock out Ka band:mad:

K-Band
The most frequently used radar frequency band: 24.05 - 24.25 GHz. K-band made its appearance in 1978. The first K-band hand-held radar guns could only be used from a stationary position. Later, a "pulsed" version was introduced that could be used from a stationary or moving vehicle.

K-band radar waves have a relatively small wavelength. At the power level found in police radar guns, K-band has an effective clocking range of about 1/4 mile. Depending upon terrain (around a corner, over a hill, etc.), K-band waves can be detected from a range of 1/4 mile to 2 miles.
I'm not sure "filter" is the correct word. They don't actually filter out a blocked signal as witnessed by the spinning indicator that tells you the signal is there, but no warning is being issued. They need to seperate the locked out signal from other signals and don't seem to do a good job of that. I suspect they are using DSP (digital signal processing) to do this. So the real limitation may be the horsepower of the processor in the 9500i

Just some random thoughts.

Thats sounds much more plausible....

Seems in these days HP for a processor would be mute point give how cheap they have become.....

FWIW I have elected not to lock out any Kband sites.

I still am not able to get it to lock out the Ka band "your speed is X" fixed locations in my area....Any one else able to lock out Ka Band?

Until they can add the "Arrows" I can't switch! I believe V1 has the exclusive patent on that for awhile

So is the 9550i. new feature. I've had V1, Passport x50, and Passport Solo and the 9500i is by far the best. GPS is cool!

There are big problems with the new Escort 9500i and the majority of people are returning them because of less range than the Valentine One and the 8500X50.

http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=22803

They are locking out signals from door openers and the 9500i is not alerting to cops that shoot radar in that area. Owners of the 9500i are also complaining that signals that they lock out are not staying locked out from the day before. They also say that their Sirius/XM radio is cutting out because of the 9500i and its GPS function.

Ah, yes, the only kind of post rk makes on any forum - one advancing the v1.

Given your one-sided history of posts on this topic and your apparent lack of value added on any other topic, I still posit that you are either Mike V or employed at Valentine Research.

Either way, I won't buy a V1 until they stop looking like something out of a Soviet spacecraft with vacuum tubes inside. Spend less time shilling for them and more time contacting industrial design houses.

I am keeping mine.

I may ask about the ramp up...some times it goes from like 1 to 10 in only a few blips. I heard there was a patch for that bug.

I just drove from Central Texas to the KC area. No issues....here are some highlights.

1. Got lit up like a christmas tree by Lidar on I35 just north of (about 45mins) Wichita.....9500i works just fine. Great spot he might as well been invisible!

2. Got lit up by an MP going on post K band instant on....however, he zapped a car in front of me....and the 9500i picked it up no problems.

3. Every traffic warning sign in Oklahoma gives off RF frequencies on K band...damn its annoying! I noticed this in Tenessee also. I suspect this is intentional...it certainly gets my attention.

4. Overall after a week and over 1200 miles this detector falses way less than my previous one...
