Stock xenon to aftermarket conversion?
Hey guys! Anyone with the same experience? I own a 07 328i with stock xenon headlights.
The car was in a little accident were I had to replace a headlight. Instead of spending $600 on one OEM headlight i decided to get a new pair of Umnitza xenon headlights with LED angel eyes for about $100 cheaper. They didn't have amber corners and angel eyes were much brighter which made them more appealing to me. Now the problem is that these new ones that I got are NON-ADAPTIVE which creates an error on my dashboard. I did not know that the car had adaptive feature since I bought it with that damage in the first place.! I'm not sure if there is a way to have the adaptive feature turned off or the only way would be to just buy an original headlight? Any suggesting, ideas and help would be appreciated. Thnx |

You need to edit your VO and take out the option for xenon. I'm not sure of the value but I think it's $522. Then you need to update your car so the modules reflect the changed VO.

You should read the coding section and search the threads. Buy a coding cable and learn to code. I did it last weekend and it was a piece of cake following the DIY. I didnt change my VO but the guys over there can guide you.

Look in coding section if you want to learn to code. It's not that hard and you can code some cool features. Or go to the regional section and see if anyone by you offers coding...most of the time it's free. They are OEM xenons but I opened them up and painted the amber gloss black. I also glued and soldered about 300 SMD LEDs behind the OEM rings and have them connected to a microprocessor so they dim according to the amount of ambient light. |
