I'm planning on buying some wheel locks and I've run across their site...but never looked into it. $400 for wheel locks seem a tad bit much...the truth is...no matter what you do - they want it, they'll take it...flatbed and all! How are/what makes their locks unbreakable? I plan on just buying to different sets of locks and putting them on my car (total of about $150). It should delay the asshole trying to steal my wheels as much as possible...anything other than that...it's up to the stars and planets aligning... Good luck and let me know what you do. |

But yeah, my thought is it will slow them down to the point where they leave.

I was going to suggest calling your insurance company also. It's going to be MUCH less than what Rimlox does.
I put a stud conversion kit on my car and when with Blox 7-sided titanium lugs. They come with a custom 7-sided socket because most lug nuts are either 6 or 8 sided so a standard socket won't fit. In essence, I have a "lock lug" for every one.

For some $5,000 wheels, some good locks definitely will help you have peace of mind. It's always a possibility that a thief will get what they want in the end, but with the claims Rimlox makes, I don't think you have a whole lot to lose. In the end you'll have some locks that are backed with a guarantee you have already justified by the tone of your posts.

Playing devil's advocate, I have another thought. It looks like Rimlox was established in 2001. So 11 years running is pretty good, but what happens if the company goes under? You'll have a set of $400 wheel locks and no warranty protection.
![]() They are cool looking locks tho. I can see how the recessed design would foil some of the usual tricks theives use, ie. hammering sockets onto them.

I have the Rimlox and it's the best investment I ever did. If you have expensive wheels like I do, it's well worth it.

The Rimlox for BMW are 2 piece locks. You have the main lock which is torqued in and the you have the 2nd piece that's a dummy cap which looks like the oem stud bolt. Thieves will not tell that the wheel has locks on it because the 2nd piece is a decoy so thieves won't tell. That's the good thing about them

Could you chime in on the key sealing process & have you ever had someone attempt theft with the Rimlox on?

With Rimlox you get 4 locks, 4 dummy caps ( the 2nd piece that will give it that oem stud bolt look ) and 2 keys ( 1 key stays with the authorized dealer and the other key, which is sealed, you stay with it). When the locks ate installed to the correct ft/lbs torque (typically 70 to 80 ft/lbs) the warranty goes into effect. You sign the paperwork along with the authorized dealer that did the installation of the locks, thereafter the paperwork gets faxed to Rimlox and the warranty goes immediately into effect.
Anytime you have to change tires, change brakes/rotors, or any suspension work, etc and you break the seal of your key, you must document the time, place, reason for breaking the seal and you must report it to Rimlox either by phone or email. They will contact the place where you get your work done immediately to let them know the correct ft/lbs in reinstalling the locks. Once locks are reinstalled you then send to Rimlox your key to get it resealed and they will send it back to you that way the warranty is still in effect. No one has attempted to steal my wheels. As I mentioned if you are going to put $4K plus wheels on your ride, you might as well make the investment of these great locks. I have done my research on them and found them to be reputable. You can go wrong when you are guaranteed new wheels and tires when a company stands by their product.

It's great to hear this...especially since it's coming from someone who has them installed! How much did you end up paying for the Rimlox? Can the dealer be any dealer...or do they have to be approved by Rimlox? |

I ordered my locks last minute when I got my wheels because I took time to do research. I got them through the same distributor that I purchased my wheels from. I did not pay 400 for them. More like 325. Being from FL I got them in less than a week. Rimlox is based in Tampa. As far as their service, it's excellent. They are on point and they are very informative with any questions that you may have.
