NCRC 2012 Schedule

Got an email from Dave and Luc with the stuff below. Anyone have initial thoughts on dates/events to hit? Seems like a lot more Saturday/Sunday events this year!

Quote:

We’re happy to announce our 2012 schedule, which has a batch of fantastic dates. As you can see, we’ve been working very hard to get good dates for you. Laguna Seca has not distributed dates yet, and we'll add their dates as we get them. The schedule is posted at http://www.ncracing.org/events.php where you can register right away, but we’ll include it here as well:

Mon January 23, Thunderhill
Sat February 11, Thunderhill
Sat March 3, Thunderhill
Sat March 31, Buttonwillow
Sun April 1, Buttonwillow
Sat April 7, Thunderhill
Sun April 8, Thunderhill
Fri May 4, Thunderhill
Fri June 15, Thunderhill
Sat June 30, Thunderhill
Sun July 1, Thunderhill
Mon July 16, Thunderhill
Sat August 11, Thunderhill
Sun August 12, Thunderhill
Fri August 24, Thunderhill
Sat September 15, Buttonwillow
Sun September 16, Buttonwillow
Fri September 21, Thunderhill
Fri October 12, Thunderhill

As always, we’re trying very hard to keep prices down, and all the above events are from $99 to $129 per day. Not all dates are the same: Some have Racing, some don’t; some have Chrono Series, some don’t; and some don’t have a Driving School. All of them have the usual assortment of Open Track run groups though. So please make sure the date you’re looking at actually has the activity you expect!

That's a lot of T-hill! Where's Infineon, are they in the same boat as Laguna Seca?

They said Laguna dates haven't posted yet, not sure why they don't really run at Infineon. My guess is it's hard to get on that schedule/expensive. It is a lot of t-hill, but that's a good thing

Got that email too. Already planning my times. Do we have a lot of E90s that run NCRC trackdays?

We should plan some group runs.

This is THE best deal in trackdays. I always have tons of fun and it is run very professionally - especially when you can get a full day of tracking for under $150!!!!!

NCRC truly is the least expensive way to get onto a road course and still have an organized and safe event.

I wouldn't say we have a lot of e90's that get out there in NorCal. Meepster and Jbass probably attend the most events. I'll hit at least 5-6 this year. I run mostly Infineon and THill. Really excited about Laguna on New Years Eve.

Another e90 here, I usally attend 3-5 events a year with the guys listed above. Once my future plans are a little more concrete, I plan on purchasing a e36 and will attend rather frequently.

I have limited track days a year, probably holding out for some Infineon. Excited for Laguna Seca in a few weeks!

I don't know that I can be considered an E9# guy anymore. Especially once I get my suspension off of it. Kind of sad.

With that, NCRC is a great organization, maybe the best in our area for open track. They have never run at Infineon much at all. I wouldn't hold out for them and Infineon.

Trackmasters is a great group who I've run with many times and they run Infineon a lot. They almost always have early signup discounts too.

NASA at Infineon is great for 4 - It's like a race - but I don't think it's very good in the lower groups. There are too many cars per group and too many incidents that take time out of your sessions.

Am I off topic?

I'd be interested, but I've still never driven Thunderhill before. I'm thinking about doing it with Nasa/HPDE1 for in car instruction first.

Further off topic - jbass, any chance you're going to Laguna Seca with TMR this weekend? I'll be there on Friday.

Jbass, A little off topic but still on point.

NASA 1/2 is good for a track newbie but the fact is its sometimes full of trains. 3 is good. Haven't run 4 and probably never will in DD. Only had one outing with point-by NCRC but it was very smooth with less cars and no trains. Was very impressed.

Another E90 owner here that runs with NCRC in his Z4M NCRC rocks!

Nope. I would love to but the car is down or a cage, stripping, seats and suspension. Have a great time.

Totally agree. NASA is a great intro or racing club, the in between can be less fun. That being said HPDE 3 is pretty fun and I'm definitely learning a lot there. I think of NASA as a good educational group and the others as good seat time groups where you an practice solo...

How's work on the E36? Will be curious to see how much the current effort costs/think through some stuff I can do to mine in 2013. Laguna was fun, will post video today. There is an NCRC event coming up on 12 Mar 2012 there - any interest?

The car is slated for the cage in the next month. Along with seats there will be AST suspension right after that. Also going to go to R comps and maybe increase width if I push hard enough . I would love to do Laguna in March but have to see how likely the car will be ready for that. So curious to see what the times would be there compared to the 335.

Yeh, something tells me you'd do awesome. What were your times at Laguna in the 335i like? Here's my video w/ the 1:53.09:

Second lap was the best. On the Friday, I was consistently in the 1:54 to 1:55's. One nice thing, I was able to confirm the AiM Solo DL is pretty accurate compared with the transponder timing.

You're laps look good. How was the car?

1:47 in the 335. I wanted to go back with the cooling worked out but not got a chance to. I felt like there was a 1:46 in there with consistent laps and good cooling.
