HID KIT bulbs turn off

I have a 2007 328xi with halogens. So I installed an HID Kit for my low beams and fog lights (h7 and h11). When I turn the headlights on, only one headlight will turn on. If I disconnect the left side, right one will turn on. If I disconnect the right side, the left side will turn on. Also, when I have the foglights, the foglight eventually will turn off as well. Do I need a relay? Would I need a relay for each light (so two relays for headlights and two relays for foglights)? And how do I connect relay to battery since our battery is in the trunk? Any suggestions would help. It did throw out a code but I know I'm supposed to be the HID cancellers. Just trying to figure out why out of the 4 lights (2 low beams and 2 foglights), only two will turn on, then they will turn off except one. Thanks!

Did you buy a Canbus HID kit?

Not a canbus kit, but that only resolves the dash error, not the turning off problem.

It's the PWM signal on the halogen fixtures.

Either code the car so the PWM duty cycle is 100%, wire it to a relay triggered by the oem wiring and powered directly from the battery, or build a PWM filter.

I'm not sure where you heard that I referred 100's of people to Canbus HID kits from HPB and they have all worked including on my own car without coding and they dont turn off or error out.

The 2006 and 2007 need more attention though as some of them still cause problems. So I always say its not guaranteed for those models.

Just some food for thought we had to test 6 different canbus HID kits on a 2007 model to actually find one that works error free and stay on so not all HId kits or canbus kits are the same.

Coding is the best way of course.

Yea coding is the cleanest, most oem like.

I can vouch for Jeff. Good, honest guy. Trust me I'm more reputable than my 10 posts.

Thanks.

Just an FYI the reason I dont code my own car is cause my car is a test car for HPB so we want to actually know what will work without coding.

99% of their business is actually outside the forums so not everyone is car savvy in that regards so we need to ensure their customers are getting error free operation without the need to code.

Cool yea I understand.

I can give you a hint though that WILL ensure you can get any HID kit to run on these cars. Research how to build a PWM filter. Attach one inline with the power wire coming from the car, and you can use ANY ballast.

Most auto manufacture's use the PWM signal to extend bulb life by lowering voltage. Lowering the voltage works great for halogen bulbs, but it's no beuno for HID ballasts that need over 12v to operate.

Create one with a variable input range and a constant output voltage.

Yea I just dont know how feasible that is for the end consumer. Easy for you and me who might be car enthusiasts but an average joe is going to be like

Well I was suggesting you make a kit. Just have it plug in between the ballast and car.

I hear ya. Thanks for the insight. I'll see how feasible it is.
