It's tough seeing comparison pictures from different people, angles and cameras. Could anyone give some input about Lux5.1 vs Mtec in terms of being too bright?

Jose's picture makes me want to throw down on some Mtecs since I've seen some Lux5.1 that seemed too bright, or do you think it was just the camera?

Thanks for the picture Jose, looks good!

I did a good comparison between the LUX 5.1's and the MTEC v3's.

One bulb in each headlight, so exact same lighting and exposure, etc. The daylight picture is the important one, the shadows had the tendency to overexpose the actual light rings, resulting in a skewed output.

You can see though, the daylight pic is as close to actual output as I have seen around here. Bottom line: the mtec v3's are the best option out right now. The LUX 5.1's, put bluntly, are rather dim for a top-tier bulb.

Funny stuff, after posting this I did some more searching and clicking through links and found that post. I was going to come back and add it here and noticed your reply.

Awesome comparison man. I'm locked in for a set of Mtecs.

Go with the Mtec v3s. you wont regret. it. love mine! very visible during the day. Plus at a savings of almost half the cost, its a no brainer. Hit up e-92lighting. they gave me the best price shipped by far.

I spent forever debating between Mtec and Lux. This was the comparison that finally swayed me. I went for a set of Mtec's and have never looked back. Great comparison, and great product . . . and you will save $100. Not bashing Lux, Im sure there are plenty of happy customers, just writing about my experience.

So my question is. Why is there such a big price difference in lux and mtec, when arguably mtec is brighter? Is it because it's made in america? Is it marc's warranty? Is it because it's just a few guys or one person putting everything together? Or does lux just want a larger profit margin?

The MTEC's are not arguably brighter haha, they ARE brighter. I gave Marc some input as to what could be done to make the LUX brighter, but he basically said the pre-LCI e90 was a dead market. Mtec's also carry a warrany I believe.

Yeah I just helped my friend install his mtec v3s and he was very happy with them. I thought they looked really good too. Having LUX 5.0s before I couldn't really tell the difference but after seeing a member's thread comparing them the MTECs slightly win over LUXs at least the v3s. Nonetheless both are very nice quality products!

Best,
Your E92 Coupe uses H8 bulbs, MTEC is working on the H8 application right now.

Here are some pictures of the LUX 5.1 compared to STOCK.

what kind of fogs are you running?
