Hi,
Recently my drivers side AE's went out. I'm looking for a replacement blub but there are tons of threads and I'm more confused. I'm looking to cheaply (around $60) replace the blubs with something a little more white and brighter if possible, I can't go the expensive route (Lux, etc)

A vendor is telling me I need MTEC V3's LEDs and can't use GP Thunders. Aren't my replacements just an H8 bulb or another type of bulb? Seems there differences between coupes, sedans, pre-LCI, etc. I can't find a solid answer for my 2007 335i sedan.

Can anyone help steer me in the best direction?

Selection for us pre-LCI sedans is very limited. It is not the H8 bulb that the coupes and LCI use. I don't know of any cheap solutions unfortunately. The 2 main options, the Mtec and Lux are priced that way because demand is relatively low.

If you just want a replacement stock amber bulb I'll sell it to you for cheap.

So what do the factory OEMs use if they burn out?

I recently had the BMS (Burger) LED bulbs put in my '06 330i. Their great for the price ($99). Nice even, white light in a plug and play bulb. It's not very bright in daylight, but I knew that before buying. It gets rid of the ugly yellow OEM look. Any pre-LCI e90 bulb swap is challenging, as access to the bulb is through the wheel wells. Ridiculous design, but not much you can do about it. Many people do it themselves, but I paid after watching a DIY video. Good luck.
