Best D1S bulbs
Hi folks,
Was followed by an Audi last night and his xenons were way brighter than mine. So much so, my car cast quite a shadow thanks to bright eyes behind. When sat next to him at a traffic light, his dipped cut off was much crisper and cleaner than mine. My car is a 3 year old Lci e91 and wanted some tips from the forum abt improving the light output of my adaptive xenons. Any tips and advice welcome. It wasn't all bad last night, as Mr Audi decided to go for it one set of lights. Silly boy, my cars lights may be less bright than his but it put him well and truly in his place. So no need to advise me to by an Audi.......... Thanks in advance, Pave |

He may have had 6500k D1S bulbs which probably give the illusion of being brighter and powerful, but are actually just more bluer. OEM bulbs are usually 4300k and have more truer white light.
Theres loads of crappy upgrade bulbs in the market that look the part but probably don't last as long. However, OEM manufacterers such as Philips and Osram do upgrade bulbs too. |

If it was a newer audi, the LED dipped lights are actually quite bright so maybe that's what was making the difference?
As said above, oem ones are usually 4300k but I read somewhere that the 6500k give off less light than 4300k.

I have 6000K mtechs and they are perfect IMO...at least seem a little brighter than the OEM's were. Most vendors on here sell them....

Might go for some Osram xenarcs with a colour rating of 5000k and an alleged 20% more light than stock, according to the bumpf abt them on the WWW.
However, if anyone has any experience of these, I would appreciate any feedback. Cheers, Pave |

Audi lights IMO just seem far too bright and a nusiance in you're mirror! So much so that my auto-dimming RVM dips, so it's obviously thinking the cock behind has fitted a bulb wrong or has it on full beam!
They just look "neddy" bright IMO I reckon the BMW lights are set lower and tilted more towards the ground than straight ahead like audi's to stop them being far too bright but still give good road coverage. That's my theory anyway
