Hi Guys,

I have a problem - perspective/3d views are not available since a few days ago, although they used to work just fine before.
I did absolutely nothing to the car (only thing that i did was to insert the 2012 navi update DVD and put in the 2011 FSC code - it said the code was not correct (you need a different one for 2012 version) and i canceled the operation. Two days later i noticed the perspective view was not working anymore. Don't know if it's related to what i did, but it it so damn strange to stop working all of a sudden.

I currently have 2011 navi version and, as i said, the perspective used to work flawlessly until now. Now i select perspective view in map views, but the perspective/3d options in settings appear grayed out.
All modules on my car (including idrive) were updated this summer at the dealer.

Any ideas on how to get it working again?

Looks like you're a a 20 kilometer map scale. You need to set it to a lower scale, not sure about the metric system measurements, though. (I think you have to be at 800 feet or less in the US version).

The perspective view should work from 2 km (1 mile) or higher scale. I took the picture at 20km scale and the terrain is not visible, as it should.
Satellite/perspective cannot be checked in the map options.

I also lost the same feature however it was after the car was dealer programmed while in for service. Took it back in and they re-flashed the car.
End result is the same as yours, maybe take it in and play dumb.

Right, the scale has to be smaller to view the 3D details however you can still enable the option at any time.

I had the car reflashed early this year and the options were still available. This is strange that they just vanished.

I had the car in for regular service recently, but they didn't say anything about doing any software updates/reprogramming. I only asked them to reset my light sensor.

This is so strage. I think deep inside bmw coding there is a line which randomly disables features just to make you take the car to the dealer regularly. I'm so sick and tired of taking the car in every few weeks

Just checked my setting and there fine im runnning the 2012 update too?
i got mine on a www.bmwnavigation.co.uk i got the v32 cd and a map dvd isn a dvd case with instruction. i now have 3d redlight alerts speedcams and 7 FULL postcode input and i just so happy now.

maybe its the cd im guessing ?

What CD? I have HDD CIC navigation and 2011 map version, which worked absolutely fine until a while ago.
Had the car booked at the dealer for next week. I'll keep you posted.

I just picked up my car from the dealer. They said they reprogrammed/updated the software and now the two options can be once again selected and are working correctly. They said this must have been caused by a software error.

Seems that this last idrive version also shows street names on the map. That's useful.

Today i updated the maps to 2012 version (had the correct 2012 FSC code this time) and i noticed that during the update process those 2 options became grayed out again (i was freaked out for a moment there), but they became available after the update was complete and unit rebooted.
So i guess the first time i started the update and, because i didn't have the FSC code at that time, i cancelled it, the options failed to return to available. I guess i could have reinstalled the 2011 map version and it should have worked fine, but at least now i have the latest firmware updates from the dealer

Yes, this will happen.

So message to everyone. If you have update disks ... but don't have the FCS/enabling code, please don't insert the disks, otherwise you will loose these options until you re-install or update !
