Oil traces on ENGINE !

Hello guys;

I noticed some oil traces on Engine cover (the right side(oil filter side)) , my engine is N46B20 , someone told 'it may be the vacuum pump o-ring leaking), any ideas , can it be anything else ? , is this normal for bimmers ?? i'm on 60000 miles now .

Oil filter housing gasket...it's common.

The oil from the leaking oil filter housing gasket often runs down and makes it look like the valve cover gasket is leaking. If you really mean the engine cover, and not the valve cover (the reddish gasket with several aluminum blue-colored bolts all around), then perhaps the engine oil cap is loose or the oil filter has not been put on correctly. Wipe out all oil, go for a short drive, and then pop the hood open to identify, where it is coming from.
