has anyone ever changed their brakes, to non bmw ones? i will be having to change my brakes soon but i don't want bmw ones due to the fact that they are staining my rims! and have to clean them every few days! but also looking for good brakes!

PBR and Akebono make good aftermarket pads that dust less. I am going to try the Akebono Euro Ceramic on my car to see whether they dust less than the factory pads. I have to clean my wheels every 1-2 weeks, and they get dark and dusty from just a few days of regular (not like a maniac) driving!

I used to have a Subaru STI and those Brembo pads dusted like no other.
Replaced them with Hawk HPS and dust was almost completely gone. Pads gripped just as good as the Brembo, and in some cases I felt they gripped even better. |

Might want to change the title to "pads". Ceramic will have the least dusting, but maybe not as much bite. Depending on your application, ceramics might be a good way to go.
