Will this setup work?

Hi,

I'm a total novice with tires/wheels, so please help in any way you can. I have wheels which are 8,5x19 front and 9,5x19 back. These are what I've used as summer wheels, but I've been thinking about buying new ones and switching these to winter. Currently I have 235/35/19 in front and in the back 265/30/19 tires with these wheels. Would it be okay to run a square setup of 235/35/19 on these wheels? Thanks in advance!

Yes, even though the rear 235/35 will have some stretch to them.

Would the stretch affect grip? Since these are studded winter tires and you know that grip is kinda important here in the North I won't do this if it affects the grip much

Well any low profile tire on 19's is not the best choice for winter driving. As for stretching the tires, it takes up all the sidewall flex, making the tire very rigid. If tracking the car, it can be dangerous and may be told to go home when teching the car. Now if you want to drift the car, stretch all you want since you want to lose grip. Seems to me like you are doing a mild stretch and you probably won't notice anything during daily driving.

Thanks for the clearing up. My winter tires now are 225/45/17. I've been under the illusion that only the width really matters in winter tires since the narrower the tire the better it digs in to the snow. The wider the tire the more it glides over it, so basically you would want a narrow tire for winters as far as I know. I think I'm gonna go with these, but I'm not going to sell my 17" wheels&tires just yet

A Norwegian member, Masheen, he had 19x9.5 and 235/35/19 studded tires.
