Are all BMW dealerships wank???
Recently bought a 2007 330i tourer with 37k miles and full BMW
serv history. I love the motor so for piece of mind i asked a good friend of mine (a very good mechanic) to give the car an oil change and a general look over. Well the report wasn't good Wrong spark plugs fitted,Front pads ill fitted and all filters not changed probably since new!!! I turned down a number of cars because of the lack of a BMW serv history. Looks like they're not really worth it.Just shows how important it is to find a good trustworthy mechanic/tech |

I think your new car may smell of fish! for a start, a 37k mile car should still have its original plugs. You can always call the dealer who did the services and find out exactly what was done and when.
Unless you have a BMW receipt, the brake pads could well have been changed by anyone, it's not a service book item and what evidence have you that the filters were not changed? It could be that the car has done more miles than it should have or the service record isn't genuine. I assume the car didn't come from a BMW dealer as an 'Approved Used Car'? As to your post title - no, 'most' BMW dealers are not 'wank'. There are a few bad apples out there like with any car make, but on the whole they rate quite well in all the surveys - not the best - but there again these surveys are a lot about 'expectation' and I guess people who buy os Skoda or Kia 'expect' less so are invariably pleasantly surprised, whereas BMW drivers expect expect more, so are more likely to feel let down. I certainly have no complaints about the BMW dealer I have used. |

Agree, a 37K 330i should still have factory plugs.
I might only just have had it second oil service (or be just due), so it might be on filters from 15k ago. Even brake pads would normally be factory at 37K IMO. MY 330i sold at 55K with plenty left on the original pads all round. Last edited by doughboy; 02-01-2012 at 06:10 AM.. |

Maybe they put the wrong plugs in at the factory, thought of that?

Is the car a AUC?
I'd check the history with the dealers involved in servicing your vehicle since new (to find out what they changed on each) and see if it tallys up. It may be that the previous owner changed these by a indy and it may be a partial blame on the supplying dealer as they are supposed to do an multi-point inspection on the car and failed to check these bits out. |

The car has had a good history check (friend is Merc dealership manager) and has checked service database.Won't name the last dealership to have "serviced" it but alot of the tick boxes ticked weren't carried out.Looks like the recommended notice has changed as it now states NGK iridium ones.Filters were filthy and this was one of the boxes ticked as changed!! Admittedly the car may have been driven hard so pads worn but the pins were badly bent and barely located correctly.
Car is now in good health so i can look forward to enjoying it |

You can get the full detials on the service history - if serviced within BMW network from:
0906 209 0001 It's a premium rate number but you can also get details of full factory spec on any car for which you have the reg or chassis number. |
