Returning Tire and Wheel protection

Does anyone have experience returning the BMW tire and wheel protection?
I bought the car CPO about 6 months ago thinking I'd use it...

This is before all the RFT vs non-RFT reading and wanting to swap to much wider wheels.

I've heard some success people have had within 30 days, but mine's about 6 months in.

I'm curious to hear how you make out with this. I purchased the wheel and tire insurance (3rd Party) and bent a rim a few months back on Sunday. Got it fixed on Monday, submitted an invoice to get it reimbursed and they wouldn't honor it b/c I didn't get a preauthorization #. I argued with several people over a few days and didn't get anywhere. I threatened to cancel to see if that would get me anywhere and of course it didn't. I still want to get pro-rated compensation for the remainder of the time available & cancel.
