time has come again-new tires

I\'ve been trying to do some research to figure out which tires I should purchase for my e90 sport pckge. I don\'t want to spend too much but I live in tampa, fl so I want them to perform well in the rain. Any suggestions? I\'ve heard the continental dsw are good but I\'m not sure how they handle in wet conditions and tire rack has them on back order.

I love my DSWs. They will go 50k miles and are smooth, quiet, great when it's wet and even handle a little snow. I run mine at 40 psi and they handle great! You won't be disappointed.

The Conti DSW's are good tires. I hear only good things. You should be relatively happy with them.

How the DW's in wet conditions?

What type in quality/performance/and PRICE is comparable to the DWS and DW?

Conti's get a TON of good reviews it seems... Never really have read a complaint. Looking into tires now too...

If you don't need an all season, check out the Michelin Pilot HP Primacy. If you need an all season, the Michelin Pilot Sport A\S has been getting great reviews for the past several years.

DW > DWS

No need for DWS in florida, the S stands for SNOW

D - Dry
W - Wet

I just ordered some Continental DWS for the front (along with Nitto 555R for the rear - daily driver drag racing setup ). I chose them because they are some of the lightest tires available, and they have great reviews.

I would choose the DWS all around if I had a 328i. They seem to be very balanced, confortable and quiet, last long and also quite affordable. However, from the reviews I gather that dry handling is not their strongest point, but I assume they are not the worst handling tires either.

Let me know how that works, I was told by everyone not to run different rears then fronts, but if it works then I might do the same.

Where did you buy the 555Rs?

I just put on a set of NT555's (not R's), so far I've been happy with the tires, despite meh reviews from the internet. Needed a set ASAP due to a puncture and I couldn't have my car off of the road, so couldn't go internet route. I hit a big puddle with them at about 75 on a backroad in PA with them and thought for sure I was screwed, but they handled it fine. Water shot all the way up to my windshield, though. Car was a mess.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is EXACTLY what I was looking at when trying to pick between the 2.

I don't "need" summer performance tires, I more or less want a solid "street" tire with good wear and handling. I only have a 328, so I dont need extra sticky rubber for grip like a tuned 335 or M3 would need.

How is the difference in ride/handling between the DW and DWS?

I love my DWS, I'm on my second set in ther rear. I got about 22k out of the rears which is great considering I was getting 7-10k out of Generals & verdsteins. I find for my 335i 35psi front and 38.5psi rear works best...my 2cents.

+1 on the DW. Great summer performance tire for the price.

I ran 555R tires in the rear and winter tires in the front (Goodyear GW3) in 17" for a whole "drag racing" season. Not the slightest problem, and I even drove spiritedly on some curvy mountain roads for a couple of times.

Now I stepped up to 18" and ordered the same 555R tires along with DWS for the front.

I got the 555R's from DiscountTireDirect. Unfortunately TireRack does not carry Nitto tires...

The only size I'm seeing the 555r's in 285.. That won't fit on my 8.5 stock OEM wheel.

What size are you running?

PM on the way.
