I believe that's on the ZF transmission only because they're plastic.

I did a drain and fill 2x and didn't replace my pan, yet. So far, all is well. I plan on replacing the pan at 100,000 miles. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367729

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

Yep, good practice takin care of both at the same time. The sleeve from those guys is like 15$. You can get out for like 270 or so and just the drain/refill time (or labor if you take it somewhere). I only have a mechatronic leak when the car sits up for about a week but it will need a 60K service and im gonna have the place do the trans/mechatronic at the same time. Kind of a no brainer, 1 hour of labor to save potentially a whole bunch of heartache
