Hmm,

I don't have Pro Nav so am not sure about force feedback.
But yes you can sort by Artist. Also Genre, Track, Playlist etc.
Or you can choose a track by directory structure.

As regards speed, the IPOD (with the 6fl Cable) is much faster than when accessing a standard USB device of similar size (in Mass Storage Mode)

My iRiver was way slower than the IPOD from a response pespective.
