Compo from BMW for dead e92

Well, After my car was dead for 22 days due to a crap fuel pump, oh yeah then it had to go back for the seatbelt handover that they broke whilst it was in, then when they were fixing that they reset "the system" what ever crap excuse that is and it became "unsafe to drive" so it ended up being in an extra day until the head office in Bracknell had dialled up to the car and remotely reset it they've offered me £500. They've said that the average compo is around £400 per 4 weeks but because of the messing around and although it was in for less than that they've offered me £500 - what do you think??

Did they give you a reasonable replacement car to drive for the days that you didn't have it? Were they helpful, polite and courteous? You could ask for £1000 - this would test to see if they budge over £500 - if not, then you have no choice but to accept!

Well, I got a spanking e90 320d which I did put 1200 miles on lol so I'm kinda glad the big miles didn't go on my motor then a mini convertible from their forecourt when they screwed the seatbelt up, they were polite, I think just a lack of knowledge of the car was the main pain in the @$$, but maybe because of my car, next time someone has a problem with an e92 they'll know it inside out lol!! Will see what I can do on the compo side!!

You could try the line that the offer isn't anywhere near as good as they are saying. If you take into account the cost of financing the car over the period that it was off the road they aren't actually offering all that much compensation.

However, you'll probably be doing very well to get anymore out of them. They kept you mobile whilst the car was off the road and I would think have now offered to meet at least the costs of any finance you may have and would have paid over that period.

Whatever you do, best of luck and give'em hell. It doesn't hurt to ask after all.

Have you spoken to BMW GB. If not, doing so might improve the situation

yup it's BMW UK who've sorted it out. I've spoken to them and they've said they wont go above £500, so, for now, I'll just have to accept it and see what else goes wrong!!

Colsen

I originally got my loan payment covered for the month I was without my E93 after fuel pump failure. This is approx £575. Once I got the car back, I spoke to my dealer about further compensation to cover the hastle of not having my car and constantly having to chase them for information. They said that they would not pay any compensation as the failure was not their fault (fair comment I suppose), so they passed my concerns onto BMW UK. At first BMW UK said that they would not be willing to pay any further compensation. However after a rather pointed and lengthy email, they reviewed my case.

Two weeks later, I've just received a letter confirming that they will give me a further £250 to spend as I like with my chosen dealer.

RESULT. Total compensation = approx £800 which I must say is more than I really expected to get.

I would suggest that you keep hastling and moaning to you dealer and BMW UK and you might (and should) get a better offer. If you want me to send you a copy of the email I sent to BMW, pm me and I'll forward it onto you.

Good Luck

Keith

Cheers Keith,
Well, my car was back in today as it had been recalled for a control module for something, and a scratch appeared on the boot so it's back in over night at the dealers for them to sort, and I've got a nice 325 for the night!
I'm going back in tomorrow so I'll see what I can get out of them, if I don't have any luck I'll give you a shout!!
