Test Fitting: 18X8.5 SSR comps with 235/40/18 Pilot Sport Cups

Just got off the phone with Gary @ Tirerack...seeing if this will fit on all four corners...want something for dedicated track use.

I was going to get 235s on my stock 162s. Just wish I didn have to go skinnier in the back. I know the 8.5s will fit up front for sure, I even fit my 9" up front with a 39 offset. Shouldnt have problems with your brakes either.

great rims but they are a little fragile on rough roads. But if they are for track use only you made a great choice.

Alpine6sp..I have had three sets of SSR comps in the past four years..one set on my 91 miata (15X7), then on my 90 Spec Miata, one set on my B5 Audi S4 (17X8.5) and one set on my B6 Audi A4 1.8T (18X8.5). I know what you are talking about..and I still like them for a dedicated track wheel.

Are you trying to reduce understeer or lose weight by going skinnier in rear? I would think 255 would be ok as well. Though a bit more expensive.

I want to be able to rotate the tires..and increase longevity...so I need something that fits both front and rear...hence the 235/40/18 size. I think that is the biggest that could fit easily..but I am trying to confirm that. I could have opted to get 18X8.5 in front..and 18X9.5 in rear..with bigger tires..but I want to decrease understeer..and hopefully this will accomplish that. Time will tell.

I was going to run 255/40 but then realized thats way too big. I will be using 235/40 on the stock wheels even though they are staggered.
