Track: dci or stock airbox.

I will be tracking my car next month and wondering if I should keep the dci or switch it back to stock air box. I have procede v5. It'll only be couple sets of 25 min runs. Ambient temp around 80-90.
Any suggestions?

It's not about max power on a 20-30minute run. At that ambient and if you run with the intermediate or advanced group you'll get more laps with the stock air box.

I run my DCI up to 70F ambient and then switch to stock airbox till the weather cools again, although I'll be trying the Mr.5 approach this year.

Should I keep my procede on, or drive it in valet(stock) mode? Is heat soak an issue? Will it go into limp mode if I drive it tuned and with the dci?

Take it from someone who tracks cars, stock air box all the way. After a couple sessions there is a huge difference in power when your engine bay heats up and your intake temps climb due to the dci sucking in hot air.

Do you have an oil cooler, I've tracked mine many times, only issue is with a stock IC you will notice a large drop off in power toward the end of the sessions. We generally run 20 min. In Texas rather than 25 due to heat

Ok, that makes sense. What about my tune? Should I keep It on? I don't have FMIC. Will the tune put my car into limp?

If you don't have a oil cooler you will go in limp mode. If you do leave the tune on, just expect it to pull timing toward the end of the session due to high intake temps from having a stock intercooler trying to keep up with the turbo at a higher psi. Have fun, take pics

For non-tt events, I usually suggest bring boost down to 12psi. Still apx 3xx hp, which is plenty for having fun. Depending on average mph of the track, heat can build up rather quickly, so higher power isn't necessarily worth it.

You really just have to ask yourself, "will an extra 50-70hp really provide that much more fun? For most people, it shouldn't. It should be about building your skills, not going fast on a straight.

Of course for proving laps or tt events, you can just do a couple hard laps then cool down.

What do you mean by "pull timing"?

Depending on conditions, the ecu adjusts timing -- either advancing it or retarding it. Pulling timing is another way of saying retarding timing.

Valet mode is NO boost. Map 0 is stock.

Leave it in map 0 until you get used to the car. Upgrade the intercooler and oil cooler if you want to have any hopes of making it through a 25 min session in 80+F heat with any kind of increased power output.

Also, are you sure they allow convertibles?

Yeah, map 0. That's what I meant.
They allow convertibles with this organization. I'll probably be driving with the top closed, anyways.
