front passenger door lock broken... again

I think this is like the 4th time this has happened... The door won't lock/ unlock with the keyfob or the lock/ unlock button from the car. Last couple time I took it to the dealership they said that it was the door actulator that went bad, which causes the fuse to blow out..

Do you think they will fix it under good will since I'm now out of warranty..

My experience has been negative reg. BMW goodwill repair, and it was on a known issue that they a technical service bulletin on. emailed BMW - got not even a reply back, but they email me for every freaking sales event or product launch. called the local dealer - said no goodwill.

Had an issue on my prev VW and got it fixed under goodwill thru VW directly, and it was bigger then this bracket replacement.

Nice cars, but their service sux IMO. Funny enough, whereas I was getting the error upon every start, it's gone now for months... fixed itself ?

This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago, replaced my front two actuators under warranty with only 3 weeks left. My warranty is up on 1/11. How much does this cost out of pocket if it happens again?

I love my BMWs for the driving experience (also owned an E36 M3 and E46 328Ci) but the failures of little things like this sucks.

Yep...known issue, had my fuse replaced for 65.00 when all my door locks failed. Thought they would cover an obvious safety issue....but nope.

Assume this is mostly for the diagnostic then replacing a darn fuse... ?

It was I'm sure,,however I would still think that 1. it being a known issue 2. it IS a safety issue when occupants cannot exit the vehicle 3. Vehicle was just in for service, that the consumer wouldnt have to spend a penny to have the issue diagnosed or resolved.

So it could be as simple as a blown fuse and not replacing any solenoids? $65 isn't too bad. I'm guessing replacing door locks runs $250-300 each, anyone know?

Right..$65 is not bad, and resolves the immediate issue, but does not address the underlying issue of the problem. There are 2 fuses that control the locks,1 is for the driver side door, the other for the other three doors, apparently that is a 15amp fuse and should be a 20amp. It is my understanding that when you unlock the doors with your fob, there is surge in the electrical system that overloads the circuit and blows 1 of the two fuses, and the surge originates from one or all of the solenoids on your door locks. Yes replacing the solenoids is expensive, especially when they tell you they need to replace all 4, your not getting out of the dealer for under a grand.

I've heard stories of it costing upwards of $500. They have to eventually replace the door actualtors, watch, your fuse will burn out again and again and again.

It's actually been like this for about 2 months but I just haven;t had time to deal with it (I live in Tacoma and I try and make it out to BMW Seattle, I hate BMW NW with a passion. Sorry if you guys have any close friends or family members that work there but I would only go there if it was my absolute last choice).

I need to take it in to get serviced in a couple of weeks, I should probably wait till I talk to the dealership before contacting BMWNA.
