MP3 players

Is the IPOD the only MP3 player compatible with the E92?? I was wondering if i got lets say a player from microsoft ZUNE, if it would be able to play on the E92 sound system.

I think any mp3 player will work in the aux jack in the center console. The seamless integration is only for iPod though (the connection probably isn't the same for the Zune)

Yes, I use a non-iPod MP3 player in mine, through the AUX port. Works great, but you just have a blank screen on iDrive saying "AUX" during music playback. You have to control the player with the player itself.

With the iPod adapter integrating the iPod into the car, you can actually use the iDrive to control your iPod (to iListen to your iTunes, which is a clear iAdvantage).

iThis and iThat -- sick of it

The dealer installed option is only for iPod but if you are lucky enough to have ordered the USB option (6fl) than you can plug anything into the USB port even a USB memory stick! Unfortunately that wasn't available when I ordered it so I have to go through the AUX adapter and use my Creative Zen on it's features.

Hey Bartman,

I am doing some research on the Creative Zen for my friend who has 6FL. Are we sure we that the iPod and some USB sticks are the only supported MP3 players that will allow the BMW to see and use the meta data?

I.e. SOL with the Creative Zen?

Thanks.

No I believe the Zen would work with the 6FL however I can't test as that option came out about 2 weeks after I took delivery in Europe would have been very cool. However knowing how the Zen looks on my computer I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I do know others do work besides iPod.
