Thanks for all the info guys. It's clear that the automatic box is great considering. If I decide to go down the path of getting a 335 I think I will try for a manual but I can't justify paying such a premium for it so will get an auto if it's a good deal.
As mentioned, the point regarding the difficulty of selling a manual is sound. I've had my car on carsales for 3 months and it's well and truly the cleanest, best maintained 325ci facelift manual and it comes with a heap of extras but no one is interested. It's a niche market to say the least. Makes me wonder why these 335 owners put such high premiums on the manuals, can't think they would sell... |

When I was in the market, there were a few cheap manuals (e93s, because I was after convertible only), one was a 2007, with around the standard 60k on the clock, manual, $55,000. Was the cheapest e93 by a long shot, but it was that fugly platinum bronze colour (sorry to any owners out there, I hate on this colour and often lol). The other was silver one and I think it was high 60s or low 70s. So I'd say fair, but not a premium that's for sure. Be patient, I was looking for 6 months before I bought a car, specifically because I was after my favourite colour combo at a fair price. |

I always went out of my way to buy 6MT and when selling, found the same thing. So many people say they don't sell, but I find the opposite; plenty of interested buyers. 335i and M3's however are more a drivers car, maybe that's the difference?

Or I can get an automatic 2007 with 35,000kms on it for 55k and they are neg. There is no arguing that there are manuals available but they are at inflated prices. I noticed the same thing when purchasing my 325 and I paid the premium but now am finding that it's difficult to get that money back and people generally don't want manuals, for 325's at least. As Jarod said, 335's are more drivers cars so I probably wouldn't have an issue selling.
I just struggle to justify what seems to be a 7k premium for manual. Surely that's 7k that can be better spent. Having said that, when I finally sell my car and am in the market. I will certainly try to get a manual but if an auto comes up at a good price it won't be stopping me this time around. |
