I got as near as damn it. No heated seats and the leather isn't the first choice colour but still fine. However the car has a few extras I wouldn't have paid for and now I have a panoramic sun roof I wouldn't be without it.

I'm didn't compromiese when I got mine.
I nearly bought a 330ci e46 last year but decided to wait a bit. Having got mine I would have liked sat nav and heated seats, but for the drives I dont know I have nav on my phone.. The biggest thing I dont like is the ride over bumps on the msport with rfts, but I'll get them changed to non-rfts when theyre worn |

Things that I wanted that I got
Space Grey with red leather (most prefered colour combo) Sat NAV Parking Sensors (for the missus ) Heated Seats (for those cold winter mornings) It also came loaded with lots of other toys which was nice. Things I compromised on MANUAL GEARBOX. It seems noone specs these on the 335i or if they do it's a poverty spec one with none of the other toys like sat nav either. After spending a few months searching, I finally caved and bought an auto instead. I am happy with the auto, especally in manaul mode with the paddles but I would have been happier with the manual. |

I ended up going for a year older (2007) than I wanted. The dealer had a blue 330d but I didnt like the colour so went for the black.
Also would of loved heated seats and xenons but no luck. |

All the manuals in any guise whether it be petrols or diesels 320s 325s or 330s you can find as many autos as you like with the entire shooting match but manuals do seem to be of poverty spec which is annoying. No one like driving with a proper gearbox any more? |

Strange really as if I was speccing a brand new one, I'd definately want all the toys but with a manual gearbox but I guess people like us are few and far between. |

I went for a lower spec 330d as I wanted a larger engine. The 335d was out but too pricey for me, and the 330d I got was the cheapest used AUC I could find. It was only a year old when I got it.
But I am happy, as it is now on 80K and there is very little to go wrong in terms of gadgets. I do wish it had iDrive as a toy and better sound system and ISOFIX and folding rear seats and electric seats and mirrors though! But I can and have lived fine without these. |

I was originally compromising to keep the missus happy....she wanted me to get a 1-series diesel initially, which I said I'd only get if it was the 123d.
Well, that was up until the night before I was planning to call a dealer 90+ miles away, who had a fairly well priced one in the colour I'd picked out. I thought I'd have a quick mess about with the search options on the AUC site and see what was available closer to me. Up popped what is now my 335d M-Sport, which was only 20 miles from me and was so new on the site that they'd only got it in the day before and it hadn't been prepared yet. I went to see it first thing the next day, the salesman came in early just for me... Things I originally had on my wishlist: Xenons (didn't get) Bluetooth (didn't get) Black leather (got grey leather) Any colour but black as I've had 2 black cars in the past and I hated having to constantly clean them to make them look good (guess what...it's black...) All the above really didn't matter once I'd driven it. It was such a good price I couldn't turn it down, I couldn't find a comparable car within £4k of what I paid for it from a BMW dealer and it's very low mileage for the year (only just hit 27k this morning) and that engine....think I wore a stupid grin on my face for the rest of the day after I went out in it! So did I compromise? Not considering I almost bought a 123d....

I found a 325d SE with heated seats, USB for iPod connection and electric folding mirrors. All well and good, but when I got out of the car after each of the 3 test drives I did, I couldn't help but feel the car was lovely and exactly what I wanted while I was still in it, but distinctly average looking when I got out! Finding an M Sport with all the above was really hard, so I make do with no heated seats, an aux point and no electric folding mirrors. However, getting out of the car and seeing those sleek lines and gorgeous alloys make it all worth while!

Happened to me and all mate I rang up about a car on Monday at a dealer said it was available and said I'd go along to see it next day. I turn up Tuesday after work and it had been sold Monday afternoon. Gutted! Was a gem as well. I'm still holding out for an E92 330d Manual with nav but I'm slowly losing my patience.

I got all the extras I wanted plus more, The original owner spend over 12k on extras!! The only downside was that the car was a year older and 10k miles more than I wanted to go for. Still went for it as I'd never find that exact spec / car combo again.
