Ive neither had a beemer before or a diesel, what should I be looking out for when checking the car?

Are these usually rock solid or big bills looming depending on age and mileage?

Advice appreciated.
Hey,
I have a e90 330i had it for about 4 years now. LM blue M sport. I use it as a daily runner, to and from work, pick up and drop off, trips for shopping etc. In all honestly the petrol prices havent really made me think..... Crap I shouldve brought a diesel. Theres nothing wrong with diesels espcially the BM ones and so if your leaning more towards Diesel but powerful go for the 330d, If you prefer FI petrol go for the 335i or for simplicity I can suggest the 330i.
Maintenance? well yes just the usual though, air, pollen, oil filters plugs etc. I had an issue with misfiring but an OBD scan showed misfire on coils cylinder 1 and 2, £30 a coil 5mins to fit. Honestly thats the only trouble I had to date. Otherwise she Purrs and pops and is a real joy when you want to cruise with the Mrs or for the B road blasts to work.
So really, whatever you Budget and heart allows you will be happy I am sure of it. Oh I changed the runflats to continental sport contact 5 within a few weeks. Definately reccomend you switch you decent rubber soonish though as it makes a hell of a difference.

Either than that enjoy your new car.
Peace

The current onboard read out averages around 28.6mpg (mixed driving) in terms of monetary value I full click at the pumps for around £78ish (from near empty) roughly every 7-8 days. Standard unleaded.

Had my 07 330d M sport for 6 month now, no regrets.

However i did look at over 10 cars before buying the one i have. There are some nasty cars out there, that have not been cared for. So take your time looking and get a nice clean example with FSH, that has been cared for and not trashed.

295bhp and I average 39mpg can't be wrong in my taxi diesel. Only thing I had go wrong was electronic steering lock jam locked. Had to replace whole thing. This is common regardless of petrol or diesel. Engine bullet proof

My 330d is on 81K and no major issues during its life with me. I bought it with under 11500 miles.

Own an E90 LCI 330d and had the intake swirl flap issue E46s usually have. Not common on E90s apparently, but it does happen.

Had them removed for £60. BMW replacing them would've cost me over £600.
