Tint Issue

I had my windows tinted about a year and a half ago at a fairly reputable shop in the Cleveland area. Within about 6 months the tint developed very deep streaks in all 4 rolling windows. I took the car in to see if they could replace it, as obviously something was not right and the guy swore that it's because I had sand or debris in the doors that was causing the scratching. I can understand if this occurred on 1 or 2 of the windows, but to have evident scratching on all 4 seems unlikely.

Car is a 2007 e90.

Has anybody else had this issue? I'd like to remove the tint and have it redone, but there's no point in doing it if this is going to be a reoccurring thing.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

my buddy had that on his Evo, but that was becasue there was no felt on the interior rubber. I have never heard of this on a BMW though. Be sure to check that the felt is in good condition.

This is a well documented problem. The tint guys did nothing wrong other than not knowing or not saying anything. You need to get moleskins and redo your tints.

Do the Tint protector, $30 and easy to install yourself. I used a steamer to remove the old tint, put on the tint protector moleskins and had the windows redone, cost about $45/window for re-tint @ horizon Audio.
Many BMW models have this issue.
