That's what I'm planning on doing. How do you find the ride on the PS2s compared to the Bridegstone RFTs?
I'm also planning to step down a wheel size (to 17s). I actually prefer having a bit less grip and a bit more progression, not to mention the improved ride.

had the RFTs on the sport package - was adequate but decided to go with 19s so went with non RFTs with lower profile. noticed the ride is smoother, quieter and handling does feel more precise and tighter with the non RFTs.
bought the Airman tire repair kit for $50 cdn in case

With the purchase of my E90 I went from a non-RFT BMW to a RFT BMW. I was absolutely shocked at how harsh they were and how badly they caused tramlining. Never, ever, ever, have I driven a car that tramlined as badly as my E90 with RFT's. I tried lower pressure, as low as 22 psi, but handling got worse more than the harshness improvement.
I switched to Kumho ASX non-RFT's and the tramlining's gone, the ride is much less harsh (even on the way home from the install - from which they left 60 psi in the tires!). Cornering's about the same, MAYBE not as tight since the new tires are all seasons. They have a very faint buzz to their sound that the RFT's didn't have (although it's going away or I'm getting used to it). Loved the ride on the way to work today. I'm smiling again. Mine's a lease. RFT's are in the garage in perfect condition for the return. I will not buy another BMW if, at renew time, my only option is RFT's and no spare. Just won't do it. |

Runflats are expensive to replace and handling sucks big time. BMW made a huge ass error in that department thinking they are doing something right but backed fire on them. I sold my runflats after using it for 2months and bought some decent falken tires which rides 5x's better. Now I am planning to buy 19s or 20s for my ride.

Just a question here. I need to replace my right rear tire coz i think air is leaking.. and i see here many of you say Non-RFT is better. Maybe I should change to Non-RFT this time but wonder that do i have to replace all of 4 or is it okay to change maybe just rear or the one first? is there will be problem or anything? my tires are still like 80% left, and i feel kinda wasting to change all 4..

Ended up with getting a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (225/45 ZR17 and 255/40 ZR 17) and an M Mobility Kit.
Its like a new car...the harsh ride is gone and its smoother and more precise. For future generation 3-series, please get rid of RFT's and bring back the spare. |

My tread is almost gone after 16000 miles and I am definitely going to non RFT. I noticed when I talk on the phone in the car, that sometimes I can't hear a damn thing the person is saying because the tires are so noisy lol. Not to mention the cost savings, even if you are getting PS2s, is quite a big deal.
I also abstained from voting since I haven't switched to non RFT yet.

After reading this im glad to know that upon switching to 19s non RFT that the ride might even be smoother than 17 RFT. I also figure I will save myself the money I would need to spend on new RFT and then just resell my 19s upon my lease end, so I get to have a great looking car and smoother ride, and save money, seems like a no brainer.
