Lowering your 60' Time
335i AT Running S2+ with Vredestein UltraC Sessanta 265 rear tires, it seems i am only able to get 2.3/2.5 60' times.
What am I doing wrong? I have been pressing the DCT quickly (not holding) Launching in second gear Launching at 2200-2500rpm Last edited by E90SoFlo; 03-29-2012 at 05:28 PM.. |

19" rims with street tires.....is your problem. Throw some light weight 17's or 18's with DR's and that will cut your times down by a good 0.5 seconds.
Also, hold the DCS button for 5 seconds to turn all things off, you should the the circle triangle light to know if your traction nannies are all off. If you are still having issues, try launching in 2nd gear. After that, it's practice practice practice until you start cutting 1.5's (with a LSD).

Even with dtc pressed, traction control is still cutting power.
Warm up your tires try launching in first but not too hard, if you spin too much try 2nd gear and build boost. |

I'm still failing at this, getting a 2.3 is the best i can do with holding the break until 2k rpms and releasing. One time it spun the tires the others its not breaking loose at all.

+1 on dynolicious. I love it I can't beat 2.5 60' either but I have a 6 MT. I know my issue is the 19" wheels with 30 series tires. I may look into trading my 19" with someone with 18" so I can DD on DR.

oh that explains it, go to track. If your not at a track then who cares what your 60 ft is anyway.
I had sessanta's on my M3, def not the stickiest of tires but I did like them. If your not even spinning your tires easily then traction is not your issue.

19's are not the issue. I have cut 1.9X in a manual with 19's on a street tire first time to the track. I am sure with some more experience I can get in the 1.8X range. Still open diff too.

+1 I have 19" wheels 6mt and I'm between 1.9x-2.2x with 265's on rear normal tire pressure 32psi Cobb stage2+. What street tires do you have this can make a dramatic change along with the weather temp outside

I'm running stock 18/265s with R/Fs. Warmed up I'm getting consistant 1.9s with my AT brake boosting in 1st but only at the track. Make sure you hold the DTC until it takes the traction control off. Best 1/4 times were using the sport mode and letting the computer do the shifting. Avg. 12.5s but I'm still getting too much wheel spin in 1st and second to do much better. Set of DRs would fix that and possible get me to 1.5 60' which should put me close to 12 flat. But, you'll be hard pressed to get below 2s on the street due to wheel spin. So I wouldn't waist my time. Take it to the track and see what you can pull off.

This is what I do, and it helps me cut 1.8xx 60'ft's all the time on my stock rft.
- Reduce tire pressure between 19-22psi - Make sure DTC is fully disengaged - Initially drive around water box - Reverse back into box letting your rear wheels get a damp - Do a solid burnout for about 3-4 secs in the box and while still spinning the tires, roll it out the box. You should be squeeling almost to the light. - Put the car in manual mode and start in 2nd gear - Brake boost around 2500rpm. Maybe a litte more or less depending on traction. Some tracks ar stickier than others. - When the light turns green, go 90% throttle as quickly and smoothly as possible, making sure not to hit the kickdown. Once I hit 3rd gear, its 100% throttle! - Let the car shift through the gears on its own. - Walla...Magic... This works for me. Hope it helps.
