Been searching the forums and havent had much luck finding a good, detailed guide as to how to install plug and play headlights.

I'm planning to install MTEC V3's in my e90 2006 bmw 330i this weekend and could use some advice and info. Any links or help would be appreciated.

I just recently installed mine and to be honest it's a bit of a PITA considering what you're doing is just replacing light bulbs.

Here are some tips based on my personal experience:
- make sure you have a Torx screwdriver available. I can't remember if it was a T15 or a T20 but you'll need one as well as a sturdy flat head screwdriver
- do not bother trying to get to the AE bulbs without removing the wheel. It'll just make life easier with it off.
- there is a flap thing in the liner that looks like it would give you access to the AE compartment after removing it but it doesn't.
- the front wheel liner consists of 2 parts (front half and back half). You don't have to completely remove the front one. What I did was loosen the top and side screws and rolled the liner down in front of the front brake rotor. Basically enough to expose the AE compartment
- The cap sealing in the AE compartment is locked in place with notched tabs on the top and bottom of the cap that "click" into holders. You pretty much use the flat head at this point to help jack it open by sliding it between the tab of the cap and the plastic piece it "clicks" into and turning the screwdriver to lift the notch out of the holding piece. This part gave me the most problems for some reason as I basically had to keep doing it and wiggle/pull the cap around a bit until the notch in the top tab (hidden from view) slips out from the holder piece on top
- ensure you remember which of the 2 wires is positive (I believe it was the green one)
- When unscrewing the bulb holder with the Torx screwdriver I just found it easier to get to the inner screw by sticking my head into the wheel well so that I can align the screwdriver easily as it is kind of hidden from view.
- when putting back the liner, remember to slide the top of the liner underneath the top of the back half.

That's about it. Sorry I wish I had taken pics to better explain things. You should know that I'm not exactly the most mechanically inclined so some of the more experienced guys around may have better tips but I hope mine at least help. Best of luck.

Thanks for the tip man. Found a couple videos on youtube that helped as well.

I Installed the 7000K MTEC bulbs I got from Dimsum. Took about an hour to get them installed. Heres a few pics, let me know what you think.

Looking for some feedback. Do you guys think I should black out my grill? Gloss black, matte black or carbon fibre?

Hmm you still have chrome window trim and your rims have shine. I wouldn't black them out completely, do what I did and keep the chrome grills and swap the round kidney section!
