Do aftermarket rims/tires void the warranty?

Do we have to constantly buy run-flat tires?

I think as long as they are a high quality brand that is the proper fitment, it won't void anything. The only time I could that happening is if you wanted to throw some negative off-set, deep-dish Daytons on it, and you ended up screwing up a lot of suspension components.

You don't have to use run-flats, however I would do some investigating on how you car will handle with regular tires. I've heard that the suspension setup only works optimally with run-flats, but I would check for myself.

Interesting question. When I take delivery (325i w/ sport suspension) the first thing I inteded to do was swap my run-flats for Michelin Pilots. However, after speaking with my dealer's Master Technician, he informed me that the suspensions were actually designed and calibrated to ride on run-flats, and that using a normal "soft" sidewall tire may adversely affect handling. He said it wouldn't void the warranty, as long as the same sizes were used. He also recommended contacting BMW North America to be absolutely certain. The only reason for my inteded swap was to use a softer, more aggressive summer compound, and reduce the factory sport suspension's choppiness/harshness caused by the overly stiff run-flat sidewalls.
