weird "air" noise during WOT
i think i just notice this noise either from yesterday or today. it doesn't happen all the time. the "air" noise is more pronounce when under WOT. during normal driving, i cannot hear the noise.
it is the kind of noise that air is blowing by when WOT. car does not have any code, no SES, pulls strong. currently mod is ETS fmic, cobb s1+, bmw pe. stock air box and stock DP. i am going to check on all the piping connection, but from what i've read, if there's boost leak from the connection, shouldn't it pop 30ff code? i didn't have chance to log anything yet but i tried in different gears, ie:2nd, 3rd, 4th. once rpm pass 3k+ and WOT, the noise will be 50% present. besides checking the connections of the fmic, what is other possibility can cause that "air" noise? thanks for the help!

Do you notice any degradation in performance? This could be a completely ignorant comment, but, maybe the waste gate is having some issues beyond just rattling? Do you only hear the air sound at full boost, or does it also happen before boost?

i didnt have chance to do any datalog as i was driving home from work and noticed it. performance was still there, and didn't seem like any degrade. both wastegates were just replaced a few months ago from dealership. and i can only hear the sound at WOT, or i'll say throttle >70%.

I noticed this after installing Cobb, the turbo intake pipe was loose where it connects to the stock intake box, check to make sure both front and rear clamps are tight.

does it sound different from the spool? i know after i installed my cobb tune I definitely heard a more pronounced spool and I'm still on stock everything... no loss in performance or boost leak codes either.

+1, with Cobb just installed you are sucking more air and you can hear it.

no, i've been on cobb for a long time and just a few days ago, i changed out to quad, but i doubt that's the problem tho.
i just did a datalogging earlier, everything looks fine, no boost leak, everything shows what they are supposed to be. i guess drive a few more days and see if that happens again. P.S. from my datalog, when doing WOT @ ~4000 rpm, i do realize that cylinder 1 and 6 have a little lower timing that the rest of the cylinder, is that normal? let's say cylinder 2-5 show 4.8 but cylinder 1, 6 only show 1.2 but climbing up slower that the rest of the other 4 cylinder. is that something i need to keep an eye on?
