335i vs 328i
I have 08 335I and my wife have a 07 328I both sport package, why does her suspension and steering seems firmer than mine, I can take a corner with her car and it feels so solid, but with my 335i my steering and suspension seem so soft. on the HWY at high speed my car seems ok but local driving its so bouncy.

Second, your car's heavier. Third, does your wife's car have Bridgestone Potenzas? Those things were rocks. Maybe in an act of conciliation and love, you can offer your wife the 335. See if she goes for it. If that doesn't work, start transferring parts from the 328 to your car, until they become equal.

alignment?
most definitely its your alignment. When I got my car new in 2008 ordered from bmwusa.com the car did not feel settled and feel like a bmw. I brought it in after 1 month and they told me that all the specs camber and toe were not in specs. My camber was 0 when it should have been -1.
in short the car handled much different and much better after the alignment. The service manager told me that they see many new cars coming from germany that are out of spec. he said that when the car settles camber specs change. Good luck |

this post is old, but...OP, i have a 07 E92 335i and my wife has a 07 E90 328i. I have the exact same situation. I looked up spring rates, and i know for my situation since the 335i is a coupe, it has significantly lower spring rates than the sedan counterpart which makes since because you are usually not carrying as much cargo vs a sedan. Also i believe BMW markets the 335i not solely as the higher performing model, but more the higher end model. So they might want it to be more luxurious including ride quality.
Furthermore, probably the most obvious reason, is the increase in engine output. Even with dsc, it can only do so much. And besides the absence of front neg camber, they softened up the front suspension to inhibit oversteer, and yield a more understeering chassis at the limit. Don't want american sorority girls tail whipping their 335i when they trail brake hard on an off-ramp, is probably the thought. This was the same way my 08 STi was setup...as in safety first, then let the self tuners setup the car aggressive if they want. It was funny to me, because i let my wife drive my car and she was like, "why does your feel like sh#t in town?" haha. I have Euro Bilsteins/Eibachs (B12 kit) on order to correct this hopefully. btw, my wife's sedan has continental extreme All-seasons and my 335i coupe has the oem Bridgestones on it and her's still is way tighter of a setup. |

The weight over the front wheels for an E92 with automatic is 1841 lbs for 335i and
1707 lbs for the 328i. Difference of 134lbs. For the e92 with manual trans for both, the difference is 145 lbs. This is from Bmwusa.com. I wouldn't think that alone would be a reason for the extreme difference. BMW specs different spring rates for models and also for different options on a model. I would like to drive a 335i e90 and e92 back to back. Same with a 328i e90 and e92. |
