I have a nasty noise in the suspension on my 2007 65000miles. Like something is loose all the time after a bump. It is hard to describe but the sound&feel is like if a spring keeps bouncing for a sec.

Dealer saw it last January. Found nothing wrong. Sway bar bushings were changed 2 years ago - it was not the same symptoms though. Also I tried to tighten the strut upper nut. It was ok and no change.

I brought it to an independent who says that the noise is coming from left shock absorber. The shock act normally and when you push the car down, there is no excessive rebounce. The rest is tight acccording to him.

It is a 900$ guess, but is it possible that this noise come from a shock?

I had a blown KW shock and it kind of made a knocking sound. If it feels like the car is bouncing after a bump then a blown shock is a very likely cause. Can't really tell just by pushing on the car, thats not enough weight.

Have you noticed the DSC/traction light come on more frequently, especially over bumps/cracks/potholes? Do you feel the wheels losing grip over bumps or does the car feel unstable in mid corner bumps?

$900 is insane though. The shock alone is relatively easy to switch out. Two nuts. No other suspension parts need to be touched, so no re-alignment afterwards. You just need to rip out your trunk lining to get to the top nut.

This is 2 hours @ 95$ + 2 shocks @ 260$ and 60$ of other stuff + 15% tax included.

I see that I could get Sachs shocks delivered to my door for 180$ all in (120$ on ecstuning + all fees and delivery). But I don't expect garage to make zero profit.
