the clearcoat or gel coat on my carbon fiber trunk is peeling off badly all around the edges, does anyone know if I can shoot a new layer of clearcoat over it? What grit sandpaper do i use prior to painting?

Can **you** do it? Probably not, if you don't even know how to prep before painting...now if you want to know, is it doable, sure. But take it to someone who knows how to paint, or you are going to have a mess.

take it to a painting place and im sure theyll take car of you.

the shop that im getting the car painted at doesnt suggest reclearing the carbon fiber trunk. thats why im asking

Find another paint shop!

Seriously, they are telling you to leave it with peeling clear coat? People paint carbon fiber panels all the time, find someone who knows what they are doing.
