If you're really looking for quality name brand clothes for a cheap price, I would recommend fitting on a bunch of clothes from high end department stores or even name brand stores. Some department stores would include: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, Lord and Taylor's, Bloomingdales, Goodman's, etc. You can find many of these clothes at websites such as: Ruelala.com and Hautelook.com. They have thousands of designer clothes for 50-80% retail prices. They range from causal to work attire to black tie events. You are bound to find something that interests you. I'm 20, so I really don't buy work attire clothes yet. But my personal favorite brand for jeans is 7 for all mankind. I think they make the best quality, wash, and fit for jeans. That's practically all I wear. I have much more information; if your interested let me know. How do I know alot of this? My sister is really big into fashion and her addiction somewhat rubbed onto me.

It's also interesting to correlate people's ages with what they are willing to spend... makes me wonder how outdated I already am.

For me, spending the money on a new M car is a big hit, but I have a deep appreciation for the engineering that goes into building something like this. I have seen $300 dress shirts that I have tried on and inspected thoroughly, and cannot see the difference between that and a $75 dress shirt that I have, in terms of material quality or cut/fit. There is not millions of engineering $ going into the $300 shirt, you are just paying more for a name. I would agree that a $75 shirt fits WAAY better than a $20 one from Walmart, but the $300 one is not way better than the $75 one. The value vs price curve drops off pretty quickly at some point, unlike fine automobiles. IMHO, at some point you are just foolishly lining the pockets of some flamboyant designer who prances around dressed like a character who owns a chocolate factory, rather than rewarding thousands of hours of hard work of hundreds of well educated professionals. |

Wow.
People spent alot of money for the clothing. I only shop at outlets and don't buy anything above $100 for shirts or pants. My comfortable range is under $80. |

I've always believed that one of the best things you can do for your fashion, is to get your fitness in first. A $20 Old Navy shirt will look better on someone with a nice body than a $200, ill-fitting shirt.
I also believe fashion is about personal style and how you put outfits together. Understanding fabrics, patterns, current trends, and classic styles. That being said, I don't spend much on clothes. Agreed on most things under $100, except for suits, coats, and fine shoes. But casual work clothes (pants, chinos, button downs), street wear and shoes do not demand, imo, a high price tag. OP, make sure your clothes fits you well. A Purple Label shirt will go to waste if it doesn't fit right, and if you wear it "wrong" (accesories, outfit, etc...) |

Obviously, the logical and truthful answer to the question "do these pants make my ass look big?", is "No, the pants dont make it look big, the excess fat you are carrying around makes it look big". Gentlemen: use the response above at your own risk. |

This whole thing makes sense. I can not fathom spending $100 on a shirt unless it was a one off occasion dress shirt that I had to have.
Ill stick with pants at about $100 and shirts less than $80. Hell brooks brothers is usually 3 for $200 and I always get 50% off every time in there. Look at the demographics. Seems like every 20 year old here spends a TON of money on clothes. Ill keep the GT in my garage and wear levi's any day

Man, I am an old fart here. 38 years and would like to spend as little as possible. Most of my tops are t shirts from my travels and my pants Costco. I make enough money, but am totally comfortable and confident in my rags.
Older guys seem to be more practical around here. |
