Noise from front shocks
New guy here! My front shocks sound like their releasing air every time that I go over a bump. Is that normal or should I have it looked at? My car is an 08 328i w/o sport suspension.

I was under the impression that you shouldn't hear the sound of air releasing. When my front shocks made that noise, they needed to be replaced.

If the shock is making a clunking sound or you get an abnormal amount of oscillation after bumps, those are signs the shocks might be going. Also if they're leaking.
But not if you hear a slight "psshhht" hitting a bump.

My front left shock does it also, psfft when coming off of bumps. Funny when driving slowly over rough patches pfft pftt pfft. 31k miles on car.
Told it was normal as others have said, watch for leaks and rebound issues. |
