How often does the COBB AP get a firmware update?

Ive had my COBB AP now for a few months and there have been no updates available for firmware. Just curious as to if it even has an update or rarely receives one? By the way, I cant wait to switch to stage 2+FMIC aggressive 93 oct tomorrow sometime after my DPs are installed. Im currently running the v401 stage 1+FMIC. How much difference do you think will be noticed adding the DPs and using the stage 2+FMIC map?

Strange.. Do you check for betafirmware?
There are not a huge leap in power from stg1+ to stg2+. Maybe 10-20whp.
But you get faster response, and the engine feels more at ease.

Umm to be honest I dont think I have checked for betafirmware. I simply plug in the AP and at the top I hit updates. And thats the only way I check. Is there a different way to check for betafirmware updates?

In general, the release firmware is only updated for major fixes, new release maps, or feature updates. On BMWs, the Beta firmware is updated frequently to add new ROM support, but will not effect the performance of the maps or your AccessPORT. Once the new v40x maps go in to full release, we will have a release firmware available for update, but otherwise you should be all set!

you probably have to update the AP main software installed on the computer first.

Gotta ask..... is there a projected timeframe for when we can expect the finished v40x maps to be released???

I don't get it?? Why not just go with v401 beta? If there's going to be any final changes, they won't be major..

Because stuff happens. The 4.00 beta maps had some people on the side of the road with CEL's and apparently some have boost oscillation issues with 4.01beta. Non-beta maps tend not to have these problems.

Ok, but stuff happens anyway.. I see lots of cars on the side of the roads.
There are some reports of boost oscillation issues, but that is specific to a certain ECU(don't know which). And i think that's the final fix before getting out of beta.
Of course it's up to you, but i have been driving on them since day one with no issues at all. They are quite safe.. No need to worry.

I don't like the whole "these are beta maps so use them at your own risk and I told you so" thing. That is what scares people, however- I ran the COBB beta maps on my GT-R for over a year and had no issues.

That ^

Plus, if the final maps are going to be released soon, I'd just as soon wait... rather than spend the time to install twice. OTOH, if we're looking at a 2-month wait, I'd definitely load the beta map for now.

To each his own. I've never had to pull over to the side of the road due to engine problems, and don't plan on it any time soon. I can wait, even if the risk isn't high.
