About to settle for DEPO P90 V2, suggestions?

So, after long wait and a lot of searching, posting in the FS/WTB threads, i think i'm just going to settle for DEPOs (this link shows the V1 with upgraded 240 LED rings) Here is the best price i've seen for the V2: LINK
Frankly, they don't look too bad, the only negatives i've heard about them is that some people experienced cracked headlights after a while from standard road damage. -you think if i threw protective film over them they would be a bit more solid?

My GOAL was to upgrade to LCI halogens but no one will respond to my ad(s), none for a good price on Ebay (or at least i can't find any), and the ads i've responded to aren't complete assemblies (too many missing parts), or too damaged.

I have a small budget is the problem or else i would just go out and buy LCI Xenons, let OSS handle them, code and everything else and spend $3,000+ on headlights... but that's not the case... ~$800 is my budget limit [what i'm willing to spend anyway]

Any suggestions from the E90post community? ^__^

Here's my motto. Go OEM whenever you can. I have pre lci xenons for sale complete for a great deal. You can even drive to bellingham and get them from me. Your car is black....send them to bavx for a black out plus LS3. same cost as lci xenons but sick housing plus super bright rings....think about it.

i like the look of the LED turn signals basically and sending the lights off to somewhere else to get them customized is out of my patience range... besides that, if i get xenons i'll have to get ballasts which costs more money... which would put the total cost out of my 'willing to spend' range. i did just find these though: LINK... was going to call and confirm these but they're out for Easter obviously...

those are halogens in the pic. Way overpriced. I heard that seller is a rip off. After the aftermarket parts I have tried the reliability is always low and finish is no where as near as oem. In the end I might throw my pre lci xenons on. The vinyl amber patch isn't a big deal. Light output and quality will make up for it.

I always take precautions when making purchases like this... and i agree, they are overpriced, but don't the LCI halogens still have the angel eyes? That's really where it breaks down for me... why have a nice well-kept bimmer that doesn't have halos? And i'm not against projectors, but it's just something that's not really necessary for me. Unless your contact can come up with some LCI headlights he wants to sell on short notice, i might go ahead with one of these options before the end of the week. I'll see if i can talk this "euroacive" seller guy down on his price... no reason not to really.

(One of my headlights got smashed by a century 21 sign on the highway yesterday coming back from a car show... so i need to replace asap). Deductibles on insurance is a b**ch...

I have depo v2's with the 4 LED angel eye rings and stock projectors. This is my plan and I would not recommend doing anything LESS.

1) You MUST retrofit some aftermarket projectors. I am going to be using the Morimoto mini h1's (around $125) or, if I can figure out a way of making it fit, the Hella e55s... But they are bigger and I'm not sure about that. You could also go with fx-r's or tsx projectors (the retrofit source is a good.... source... for projectors). If you are handy, pretty easy to do yourself (I am)

Once you have these housings, you can upgrade to aftermarket HID's, canbus only. Do your research on which ones will be more probable to NOT throw codes. There are many threads on this topic here.

2) If you are looking for for aesthetics, the angel eyes are junk. You need to buy the fishcake ones off ebay, or find a local retro fitter that has your size. I cant remember off the top of my head but there is a thread with the size of the rings somewhere on e90 post. This is also a simple diy if you are handy

3) OPTIONAL: The a/e's in the depo headlights are plugged into the parking lights, so they will only come on when the parking lights, low beams, or highs are on. Not when you are just driving around w/o DRL's. My plan is to run a wire to the cigarette lighter so they come on with the car and don't turn off until the car is off.

Overall, these are great looking headlights, but the performance of the stock a/e's and projectors is very sub-par. This is easily fixed though. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I have been contemplating upgrading these for a lonnnnggg time

E90 headlights

Just got UMNITZA'S very disappointed. Wrong ballast, missing signal sockets, dust covers not installed or modified to cover xenon bulbs.

I have had Depos V2s on my car since January and haven't had a problem yet. I would say they are the best option for this price range. I originally got the 4 LED AEs and they were crap so I swapped them out for the 240x LED from fishcake on ebay. The difference is huge, so make sure you get the 240x LED, you can see it clear as day in direct sunlight.

I also went for some Canbus xenon replacement bulbs from Umnitza for the low beams. That setup threw zero errors on my 07 e90 without coding though I did eventually code the AEs as the DRLs which I highly recommend.

did they still work w/o coding or was it just the traditional light error in the dash?

Got the Depos too but having so much damn condensation even just spraying my car with water it fogs up, pain in the ass. Did you reseal them? Any pics? I'm throwing headlight codes whenever I turn on my car but most times will turn off by itself once they're on.

They never threw any errors and no dash lights. There a few things that can factor into those, i did alot of research before. The two main thing are; the manufacture date of you car since BMW does change a little coding here and there or the bulbs you are trying to run in them. As i said before I used the Cunbus xenon replacement, came with their own resistors which i mounted below the headlights on the wheel well with double sided 3m.

The only thing I coded was to my AEs to run as my only DRLs (corner delete). As you can see in my sig.

I had to open the headlights to upgrade the AEs. To reseal them I just reheated them, closed them up, then ran a bead of clear silicone sealer around the entire headlight. I do get a little condensation in the corners when it rains heavily but Hey you get what you pay for and OEM LCIs was way out of the budget.

Hope this helps
